Visitation guidelines have been set for all areas of the hospital, taking into consideration the needs of the patients for care, socialization, and safety. Sentara RMH supports a philosophy of healing that involves patient-centered care.
Limited to four visitors, age 14 and older, between 4:30-6:30 p.m. daily.
Critical Care Unit
Under normal circumstances, a patient may have open visitation at all times except between the hours of 8-10 a.m. Please limit visitors to two at a time.
Please limit visitors to two at a time. Exceptions may be granted in extenuating circumstances. Restrictions may be imposed to preserve privacy, safety and security.
- Labor and Delivery: Three support persons are allowed to be with the patient, including the labor coach.
- Labor and Delivery Antepartum Triage: Two support persons are allowed.
- Newborn Nursery: Limited to mother and one support person.
- Mother-Baby Unit: Follows the guidelines of other nursing units in the hospital. See below.
All Other Nursing Units
Under normal circumstances, a patient may have open visitation at all times. For special circumstances, the charge nurse, patient nurse or physician (along with the patient), may lift or limit restrictions.
