Addiction Services

The philosophy of the Sentara RMH LIFE Recovery program is that alcohol/drug dependency is a chronic and progressive but highly treatable disease. Dependency is an illness that results in pain, grief, guilt, shame and turmoil in all areas of life for the individuals and families involved. Those affected often feel trapped, helpless and isolated.

The LIFE Recovery program provides outpatient substance abuse treatment for people age 13 and older who are suffering from problems due to drug and alcohol use. While attending the program, participants live at home, continue to interact with family members, and can often maintain their school or work schedules.

If you or someone you care for is dependent on alcohol or drugs and needs treatment, it is important to know that no single treatment approach is appropriate for all individuals. Finding the right treatment program involves careful consideration of such things as the setting, length of care, philosophical approach and you or your loved one's needs.

Addiction Support

  • Square One

Adults in this group meet once a week and explore how to make changes that will support health and minimize concerns related to substance use. Ongoing abstinence is not a requirement for this group.

  • Phase Two

Evening chemical dependency group for adults committed to abstinence from chemicals and developing a lifestyle of recovery. Participants meet in the evenings, once or twice per week to work on their goals.

  • Adolescent Services

Teens 13-18 years old attend a combination of group and individual therapy according to their treatment needs and goals. The weekly group offers a safe setting where participants interact with staff and each other, expressing feelings and experiences. Adolescents whose drug or alcohol abuse is interfering with personal safety, achievements, and healthy family communication benefit from these services.

  • Recovery Groups

Adults who have completed intensive treatment attend weekly group sessions to continue their work on abstinence and recovery. Morning and evening sessions of this group are offered to fit most schedules.

  • Opiate Dependency

Stabilization and recovery from opiate dependency can be complex. We offer medication and therapy services to empower patients to take hold of sobriety and recovery to improve their quality of life.
