What can I expect during an ablation?
As part of the preparation for a cardiac ablation, we ask our patients to come for a short interview 2-3 days ahead of time. During the interview, you’ll meet with a member of our team who will explain the procedure to you, what to expect before and after, and will review any special requirements.
When you arrive at the hospital on the day of the procedure, you’ll be asked to change into a hospital gown. A nurse will meet with you and answer any final questions. He or she will stay with you before, during and after the procedure to provide continuity of care and patient safety.
After your ablation procedure, you’ll be on bed rest in a recovery room for at least 2 hours. Afterward, we’ll begin to get you up and moving around. Most patients go home the same day. Depending on the type of work you do, you may be back at work within a few days.
