Sentara CarePlex Hospital has approximately 250 volunteers, including 60 Junior volunteers from the community. Volunteers are active in hospital patient care areas, the gift shop, medical records, security, and numerous other hospital areas. In addition to coordinating large fundraising events benefiting Sentara CarePlex Hospital, volunteers provide complimentary daily newspapers to hospitalized patients. The Junior Volunteer program is a year-round program for students who volunteer in the summer program.
