Our team of highly qualified registered dietitians at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital provides medical nutrition therapy if your doctor requests a specialized diet while you are in the hospital. That includes heart, kidney, orthopedic, cancer, surgical patients and many other conditions with dietary requirements. Our registered dietitians may conduct interviews with patients to identify other areas of concern, including malnutrition.

Designed for patients with heart concerns and backed by scientific research, Ornish Lifestyle Medicine is a proven program to stop the progression of heart disease and reverse its effects in some cases. The program consists of 18 four-hour sessions that reinforce four key areas of lifestyle change: activity, emotional support, nutrition and stress management.
If you're an athlete, you need the best nutrition to fuel your body, and our registered dietitian will develop the right plan to help you gain strength, power, and endurance for your sport. People newly diagnosed or those with history of diabetes, may benefit from meeting with a Sentara diabetes care and education specialist. Sentara offers diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) in group and one on one settings. DSMES will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to manage your diabetes and related conditions. Education is centered around your personal goals and life experiences and may include nutrition management, blood glucose monitoring, stress management and short- and long-term complication prevention.
