Inpatient Services

Our highly trained clinical dietitians at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital work with admitting physicians to determine if our patients require a specialized diet while in the hospital. If you are admitted with a condition such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease or gastrointestinal disorders, for example, your nutritional needs may need to change to assist in your recovery. We will provide nutrition education to you and your family so that you can continue following the guidelines your doctor sets after you return home.

Outpatient Nutrition Counseling

Our registered dietitians offer individual nutrition counseling sessions with a physician referral. What and how we eat can improve many health conditions, and we are eager to work with you to develop realistic, sustainable nutrition goals to promote a long and healthy life. These appointments are offered virtually or in person at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.

We provide nutrition counseling for:

Cancer Treatment

Good nutrition is an important part of care during cancer treatment. Side effects may cause you to feel nauseous, lose weight, develop mouth sores, taste food differently or make swallowing painful.
