Our collaborative, team-based approach brings together leading interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, heart failure specialists, advanced care practitioners, imaging specialists and a complete support team to provide innovative care.

Collectively, the Sentara Heart Valve Center team has received training from the Cleveland Clinic, Duke, Harvard and Mayo Clinic. Our heart valve care team combines robust research with multiple perspectives and highly-trained expertise in one place to offer a broad array of heart valve treatment options. We offer the only program in our region that provides this level of integrated cardiac care.

Extended care team

Our extended care team consists of advanced care practitioners such as Doctor of Nursing nurse practice (DNP), nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) who work with our doctors to guide you through your treatment. These team members may help with exams, prescriptions and managing your care. The team also includes care coordinators such as medical assistants and patient representatives who help our doctors and assist our patients with things such as insurance coverage and financial counseling.
