For Scene Flights
- Secure patient, clothing removed, to long back board with straps, cervical collar and CID
- High flow oxygen via NRB mask
- Two well-secured peripheral IVs
- Leave patient in ambulance until flight crew arrives, receives report and assesses
- One rescue member should be prepared to give brief report to include: incident time, mechanism of injury, rescues' assessment results, description of injuries that are splinted-bandaged-concealed and treatment interventions
- If time permits, it is very helpful for the crew to have a copy of your PPCR or any of the above information written down
- Give clothing/valuables to family
- Two to four fire/rescue personnel available to assist loading patient into aircraft
For Interhospital Transfers
- Family and friends should be aware of transport plans and mode of transport
- Family/friends should stay at referring facility until the flight crew arrives
- Give all of the patient's belongings and valuables to the family
- All trauma and intubated medical patients should be secured to a long backboard with cervical collar and CID
- NGT/OGT placed on intubated patients
- Two well-secured peripheral IVs with extension stopcocks
- Medicate appropriately for pain, nausea and/or anxiety
- Empty Foley drainage bag
- Have copies of medical records, demographic sheet, lab work, x-rays and authorization to transport forms available to transport with patient
