More than 50-members of the Lake Ridge Golf League got out their drivers and took their skills to the green to raise money for cancer patients.

On Wednesday, June 22, the group represented by Suzanne Johnson and Bonnie Little donated a check for more than 13-hundred dollars to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center President Kathie Johnson, Oncology Service Line Director Heather Causseaux and Cancer Nurse Navigator Deanna Henry.

The donation comes after the league held a golf tournament at the Billy Casper Lake Ridge Golf Course to raise money for the fight against cancer. The women usually focus on female cancers, but this year decided they wanted their money to go to the general cancer population closer to home.

This donation will go to the Sentara Cancer Network and be earmarked to develop a resource room in the Century building on the Sentara hospital campus, which will house a patient navigator and materials which will serve, inform and help patients in their journey to beat cancer.
