Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring (CAC)

Recent research has shown a direct relationship between the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries and the likelihood of a future heart attack. Many people with plaque or calcium deposits clogging their heart's blood vessels do not have any symptoms or warning signs that they may be in danger of having a heart attack. The CT Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring exam takes a series of cross-sectional images of the heart to allow for early detection of heart disease even before symptoms appear.
