Balance and Gait Dysfunction

Balance and gait abnormalities can have a variety of causes, such as an illness, injury, or structural abnormality. Some common causes include vertigo, sensory neuropathy (nerve injuries resulting in difficulty sensing the position of the limbs in space as well as numbness and tingling) and musculoskeletal diseases, such as arthritis. Sometimes problems with balance and gait can be attributed to dizziness.
