Noninvasive Vascular Testing
At Sentara, our team uses advanced facilities to diagnose vascular conditions.
Vascular Condition Diagnosis: Peripheral Vascular Laboratory
At the Peripheral Vascular Laboratory, our specialists use advanced imaging technology to create highly sophisticated images of your veins and arteries to view:
- Blockages
- Clots
- Abnormal narrowing
- Flow disorders
These images help our specialists evaluate circulatory disturbances involving blood flow to the brain, arms, hands, legs and feet. At Sentara, we believe in using the most comprehensive, least invasive methods possible, which ensures that you receive the best care with the lowest risk for pain and complications.
Noninvasive Vascular Testing: Services We Provide
All of our vascular technologists are highly skilled and have extensive experience in the area of noninvasive testing. Tests we perform include:
- Doppler and duplex ultrasound, which uses high-frequency sound waves to create moving images of your vessels.
- Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), where radio waves and a magnetic field produce detailed images.
- Computed tomography angiogram (CTA), similar to a CT scan, during which we inject a contrast material or dye into your vein and take cross-sectional X-rays of your vessels.
Vascular Disease: Coordinated and Collaborative Care
We view the process as a partnership with you, your family and your primary doctor. Our goal is always to make you comfortable and well.
