At Sentara Leigh Hospital, our goal is to provide quality healthcare, in a safe environment, with friendly staff. We know that being at a hospital can be a stressful experience for many people. Patients and families are often at their worst when having medical procedures or being hospitalized. In addition to providing excellent customer service and quality healthcare, we want to support our patients and families emotionally. The Healing Notes program is an outgrowth of that desire to help our customers in this way.
Sentara Leigh Hospital offers assistance for patients with limited English proficiency and patients who are hearing impaired. Please advise your nurse if you need assistance and they will contact the hospitals Patient Advocate or Nursing Supervisor.
K-9 On Call
The "K9 on Call" program at Sentara Leigh Hospital matches volunteer dog owners with patients who could benefit from a therapeutic visit from a dog.
About the Program
The Sentara Leigh Hospital K-9’s on Call pet therapy program originated from the belief that dogs offer a special therapeutic component to patients of every age that hospital staff cannot provide. Your involvement will allow you and your pet to provide comfort, healing and joy to people in need.
Volunteers are an integral part of Sentara Leigh Hospital. From nursing units, to the information desk, to the gift shop, volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year to support the mission of the hospital to improve health every day.
