Below is a list of common questions about the hospital and Sentara Medical Group billing process. If your question is not answered below, please contact us.

As of October 6, 2025, all Sentara bills are available through MyChart, which means you can access all of your Sentara financial and health information in one place.
If you are unable to view or download your statements and bills received before October 6, 2025, please contact us.

Most, but not all payment plans that were in place before October 6, 2025, could be transferred to Sentara MyChart Billing. Please log into your MyChart account or create one by visiting sentara.com/mychart, then look for your payment plan under the Billing section.

If your payment plan was imported and you had autopay set up, you will need to re-enter your payment method to turn autopay back on. For security reasons, payment methods could not be carried over to MyChart.

If you do not see your payment plan on your account, please recreate your plan using the steps below:

  • Once logged into your MyChart account, look for current bills on your home screen or go to the Billing section.
  • Click on Make a payment.
  • Choose to pay your bill or set up a payment plan.
  • If you choose to set up a payment plan, enter the monthly payment amount and the day of the month you would like to pay.
  • Click Payment method.
  • Enter or choose a payment method.
  • Click Start plan.

You are all set! Your payment plan has been created.

Yes, you can still pay your bill as a guest. However, we recommend setting up a MyChart account to take advantage of all the great benefits and access your Sentara financial and health information in one place. To sign up, go to Sentara MyChart.

For Sentara MyChart users who are the guarantor* of an account(s), the default will now be set to paperless billing statements. This means billing statements will be sent via MyChart and no longer as a paper copy in the mail.

If you prefer paper statements, you can easily log in to MyChart and return to paper statements.
