Our hospice volunteers are an important piece of our compassionate care for patients and their loved ones. Volunteers share so much more than just their time, offering companionship and empathy. From non-medical direct patient care and family bereavement support to administrative and specialty support, volunteers are an integral part of the hospice program.
Sentara Hospice volunteers are specially trained. They are dedicated to creating a calming and soothing environment for patients and their families. Volunteers may work with patients residing at home, in an extended care facility or in an inpatient setting, such as a nursing home, assisted living or hospital.
If you are moved by the needs of others, submit a volunteer interest form or contact the hospice volunteer coordinator in your area.
