Sentara Again Recognized for Quality Stroke Care
The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association have once again recognized several Sentara hospitals for achievements in stroke care through its Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Achievement program. Nine hospitals received the Gold Plus achievement award. Sentara Albemarle Medical Center received a Silver Plus achievement, the facility’s first win as part of Sentara.
The Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Achievement program recognizes a hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines.
To be recognized, facilities must meet core standards of care outlined by the American Heart Association and several heart failure or stroke quality measures for a year or longer.
The Sentara hospitals that received awards are:
- Sentara Albemarle Medical Center
- Sentara CarePlex Hospital
- Sentara Leigh Hospital
- Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital
- Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
- Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center
- Sentara Obici Hospital
- Sentara Princess Anne Hospital
- Sentara RMH Medical Center
- Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital
Congratulations to Sentara stroke teams, Emergency Medical Services teams and all Sentara team members who help provide the highest levels of care to stroke patients in our communities.
