What are vaccines?
Vaccines train our immune systems to fight specific infections. They work by introducing very small quantities of an antigen into the body, such as a weakened or dead bacteria or virus. Vaccines teach our bodies how to quickly recognize and destroy those same germs if we come into contact with them in the future, preventing a more serious infection. Why are vaccines important?
By getting vaccinated, we not only protect ourselves from getting sick, we help stop diseases from spreading to those around us. That includes children and older adults who may have weaker immune systems.Immunizations for a healthier future
