Sentara hospitals earn top three spots in Hampton Roads in 2025 U.S. News ranking
Sentara hospitals also received top state rankings, and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital received high-performing designations in two specialties: pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is ranked the #1 Best Hospital in Hampton Roads, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is ranked #2, and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is tied for #3 in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings. In addition, Sentara Leigh Hospital is tied for the #5 spot in Hampton Roads.
All four Sentara hospitals also received high statewide rankings. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is ranked the #3 Best Hospital in Virginia, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is tied for #10, and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is tied for #12, while Sentara Leigh Hospital is tied for #16.
U.S. News & World Report began publishing rankings in 1990 as a tool for patients. According to the company, rankings are derived from data related to hospital performance, such as Medicare claims, as well as expert opinion.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the Hampton Roads region’s only adult Level 1 trauma center and is home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.
Pulmonology and lung surgery services provide comprehensive care for all types of pulmonary and respiratory diseases, including obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, respiratory failure, sleep-related breathing disorders, lung cancer, occupational lung disease, and more.
Urology services encompass expert diagnosis and comprehensive care, including kidney removals and transplants, vasectomies, trauma and gender reconstruction, and urologic cancer care.
