Sentara RMH Center for Sleep Medicine
Did you know that one out of three Americans may have a sleep disorder? Could you?
Almost everyone has experienced an occasional sleepless night, or has had trouble falling asleep from time to time. But for many people, getting a full night of sound, restful sleep is a real challenge that may even place them at risk for serious health problems. Fortunately, most sleep disorders are highly treatable.
The Sentara RMH Center for Sleep Medicine provides evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of disorders that occur during sleep, as well as disorders that affect alertness, in a comfortable, state-of-the-art facility centrally located in Harrisonburg. Our staff is composed of three board certified sleep medicine physicians—William Cale, M.D., Tarek Eid, M.D., Fouzia Siddiqui, M.D.—and seven sleep technologists, all of whom are registered polysomnographic technologists and/or licensed respiratory care practitioners.
If you or your healthcare provider suspect that you may have a sleep disorder, the Sentara RMH Center for Sleep Medicine is here for you.
The Center for Sleep Medicine occupies a large, century-old home that has been remodeled and equipped with state-of-the-art technology to meet the needs of patients, physicians and technicians.
The sleep laboratory itself, which houses the bedrooms used for sleep studies, is a newly constructed 4,000-square-foot addition that adjoins the back of the house. With the feel of a bed and breakfast, bedrooms are equipped with queen-sized beds, televisions, private bathrooms, individual thermostats and soundproofed walls and windows. Following each sleep study, patients enjoy a continental breakfast before going home.
