Sentara hosts free community drive-thru flu clinics across Virginia and northeast North Carolina
As part of our commitment to keep communities safe and to increase access to preventative care, Sentara Health will host multiple free drive-thru flu vaccination clinics on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon across Virginia and northeast North Carolina.
This year, Sentara will hold 17 drive-thru flu clinics throughout Hampton Roads, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, South Boston, Northern Virginia, and northeast North Carolina. Each clinic will be prepared to administer hundreds of flu shots, totaling more than 5,220 flu vaccines across locations. Visit www.sentara.com/flushots for a complete list of drive-thru clinic locations.
This free event is open to adults, age 18 and older, to receive a free flu shot from the convenience of their vehicles. The clinics will be held rain or shine, and vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Appointments are not required.
Public health experts recommend getting the Influenza vaccine annually as the first and most important step to protect yourself and your loved ones from the flu. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, individuals with a higher risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant individuals and those with certain chronic health conditions, and adults 65 years of age and older.
Preventing against the flu helps save lives and preserve health care resources. As community health leaders, all Sentara team members and medical staff are required to receive the Influenza vaccine annually to better protect and care for the communities we serve.
