Iris Lundy is a passionate leader for advancing health equity and improving quality of life for all communities. She was born and raised in Suffolk, Virginia. She is married with three children and eight grandchildren. Faith and family are her north star. The legacy of her parents instilled her dedication to family and service to others. Her calling includes serving her community and mentoring young women. She has taught Sunday School to all ages, volunteered at community events and mentored youth and adults.
Lundy leads through a lens of cultural humility, encouraging engagement and collaboration with diverse communities, civic and faith-based institutions to reduce disparities. Her passion to promote health equity is immersed in her personal experiences within historically marginalized and rural communities, her experience as an Army veteran and her transformational journey as a colon cancer survivor. Her compassionate leadership and ability to synthesize and translate information to a variety of communities has made her a sought-after speaker and trainer in organizational management and strategies to advance health equity.
Lundy is the inaugural Vice President of Health Equity for Sentara Health, the largest integrated delivery network system in Virginia. Through her experience as both a nurse and healthcare administrator, she collaborates with leaders to develop and implement processes and practices which inform clinical performance, innovates community interventions, reduces barriers to care and improves health outcomes. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University, a Master of Health Leadership degree from Western Governors University and a 2022 graduate of the Disparities Leadership Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She served in the active and reserve component of the United States Army from 1983 - 1992.
